Is it important to talk about a dictionary? In an advanced era like this?

Hmmm, maybe some people will think so, there is nothing wrong because everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I think the dictionary is important because the world comes from words, especially in academia. We need a writing reference. Not only do foreign languages ​​have dictionaries, but even Latin to computer languages also ​​have writing references like dictionaries. So what about the English dictionary, right? In this global era, everything is all in English. So, of course, an English dictionary is needed, especially in the world of education and lectures, especially in using English, such as the Department of English Language Education and English Literature. Hemm .. but not just any English dictionary yaa.

    My advice should be when choosing a dictionary, the things that must be considered are the rules of the dictionary, dictionaries that are published in accordance with trusted publishers. But, in this case, I will discuss the Oxford dictionary. Well, the oxford dictionary itself has two versions and several editions, guys. In the version itself, there is a pocket and there is also a pillow. What's the difference? Yes, it's clearly different from the name, it's also different. The pocket is called the Oxford pocket dictionary, the pillow one is called the Oxford Advanced learner's dictionary (Oxford dictionary) so don't get confused. Continue edition? Wow, the Oxford press itself has published many editions.

    It can be seen from its name that this dictionary is big and thick without billions of frills. Seriously, without "billions" this is really complete. Do I suggest that if you want to buy an English-English dictionary, buy an oxford or Cambridge (but it seems that Cambridge is rare in bookstores in Indonesia), why? Because it is 100% reliable and adds to our vocabulary for sure. This oxford is really complete, starting from nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, how to read, synonyms, antonyms until the phonetic symbols are very complete. In fact, on the back page, there is a vocabulary based on that place. This Oxford dictionary (pillow) is written in big letters and even though the English-English meaning is easy to understand, especially for those of us who are still basic. Now! because the weight is a bit less flexible to carry around all the time, maybe this is the most noticeable difference with the pocket because this oxford has a hardcover and the paper is also thicker in gram. Price? The price is quite expensive, in bookstores it is around hundreds of thousands (original and new) if at a used book place it can be cheaper. So for those of you whose oxfords are rarely used, maybe they can be loaned to make them more useful. Original? Yes, because this dictionary has a lot of fans, there are also originals or copies. The original, of course, the binding is neater. After all, I'm quite helped by this oxford, but I want to have a pocket one this time so that it's lighter to carry so it's easy to carry everywhere.
